This Trans Day of Visibility group class and masterclass introduces formant tuning as a tool in gender-affirming voice training. Jae will cover the science of formants, vowels across musical genres, and how they influence gender perception, then guide singers in applying these concepts during a live masterclass.
Six 10-minute masterclass slots are available, open to all skill levels.
This class is part of Jae’s research for their Master of Arts in Voice Pedagogy with the Voice Study Centre. Participants may opt into the research by completing two short surveys. Masterclass participants are required to complete the surveys and a brief questionnaire. Research participation is optional for class attendees, and confidentiality is guaranteed.
