Jae (they/them) has been with our studio for 3 years. They are amazing to be around and great with beginners. We’re really lucky to have.
Jae teaches non-classical styles such as pop, theatre, and rock — and also is experienced in liturgical/faith based singing in both classical and non-classical settings.
Jae is just finishing up their Masters in Vocal Pedagogy from the Voice Center at the University of Wales where their thesis deals with gender-affirming voice. They’ve mentored with Dr Felix Graham, head of our Trans/Enby department and are certified by our studio as a level 3 verified trans voice specialist.
In association with The Trans Day of Visibility 2026, Jae produced and taught our free masterclass for trans/enby singers in midtown Manhattan.
In addition to being an overall excellent and approachable teacher, Jae has several areas of specialty including Gender-Affirming Voice and the intersection of adoption and voice. Some of their appearances include:
- Giving a 2025 talk on songwriting and storytelling at the Korean Adoptee/Adoptive Family Network conference
- Giving a 2026 talk on voice physiology in the Context of Adoption at the Korean Adoptee/Adoptive Family Network conference
- Their solo cabaret show ‘Homeward Bound, A Korean Adoptee Exploring the Longing for Belonging’ has played in NYC and the northeathern US — and is scheduled to play in Seoul, Korea in October 2026
- Jae performs regularly with Dr Felix’s NYC-based gender-diverse choir TRANScend
Jae has a 2025 album called ‘American Doll’ and they toured with Katrina Sotero. They also played the principle roll (Narrator) in Dr F’s 2026 commissioned original long-format show ‘The Passion of Miss DeMarco’
Jae serves as the music director at Bethany Congregational Church in NYC.
Jae gives a beautiful and useful lesson and is currently teaching Saturday days and Tuesday afternoon / nights. Try their session risk-free with our money-back guarantee on all first lessons.
