Collin

Collin  (he/him) is a kind and effective teacher who we’re really proud to have in the studio. Book $89 Vocal Assessment with him now or keep reading for the deets!

Collin is our first “official” Gen Z teacher and comes to us with an advanced post-masters certificate in vocal pedagogy from NYU and is in process of their separate post-masters certificate in vocology* which is very rare. When I saw that Collin’s got both vocology along with the pedagogy certificate, I knew he was an over-achiever and I wanted to meet with him to find out if he was also amazing to be around. It’s not very common for a person to be so degreed but also approachable and good with people, so I was really surprised when his energy was so inclusive and he was so amazing as a person. From there we got him into an audition ASAP which he killed.

Collin is a Baritone (specifically a “bari-tenor” in musical theater slang) and gives a very student-focused lesson, bringing to bear his anatomical knowledge, physiological awareness, as well as his acoustical and psychological approach from his background as a vocologist*  I also greatly appreciate that he’s able to communicate his ideas in a very user-friendly way which I think is really important.

Side note, for undergraduate, Collin quadruple majoured. No lie. He has undergraduate degrees in Musical Theater, Vocal Performance, Philosophy, and Poli-Sci.

In addition to his teaching, he has also performed in operas and musical theater productions at Iris Kantor Theater, NYC’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Provincetown Playhouse, Bay View Music Festival, Fort Dodge Society, and the Broadway Dreams Foundation at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. He was a semifinalist for the NATS NYC 2022 National Musical Theatre Voice Competition as well which is kinda a big deal.

Collin teaches Tuesdays and Saturdays online or in person in midtown (close to 8th Ave and W 38th Street).

Grace

Grace  (she/her) is an amazing, upbeat, positive teacher with her Masters Degree in non-classical vocal pedagogy from the awesome program at Shenandoah University. She has been teaching since 2018 and has a real way to make you feel right at home while focusing on accessibility, approachability, and repeatability.

In addition to having degrees in all the right places and being charming, Grace is also an active performer and researcher. Her solo self-produced show ‘Heartstrings’ has played at 3 major cabaret venues in NYC including 54 Below and in 2026 will play a fourth.  Her shows were reviewed by Broadway World, Nightlife Exchange, and Boundless Theatre Company.

As a researcher, she works in the field of vocology and is a co-author on a paper about the optimal time to use your voice during the day (soon to be published), and her current paper is on measuring acoustic voice in actors. We’re really lucky to have her!

In her spare time she loves to bake – especially cake decor, watch old Hollywood films, and read murder-mysteries.

Grace teaches Thursdays online or in person in midtown (close to 8th Ave and W 38th Street).

* Vocology is the interdisciplinary study of the voice, encompassing its anatomy, physiology, acoustics and psychology. It focuses on understanding and improving vocal function, particularly in professional voice users such as singers, actors, and teachers.

The term “vocology” was coined in the early 1990s by Dr. Ingo Titze, a renowned voice scientist. The field emerged from the recognition that voice disorders and vocal health required a multidisciplinary approach involving medical professionals, voice coaches, and researchers. So in other words, these guys know their shit.
